Trainee Payroll Administrator
Accountability Edinburgh is an ambitious accounting practice seeing tremendous growth in its client base. Based in Edinburgh, we offer digital accounting consultancy, training, payroll and virtual finance team services.
Accountability Edinburgh has seen a significant and sustained increase in client numbers over the last 24 months. As this is set to continue, we are now looking to add support to our payroll team and are recruiting for a motivated individual to support our delivery in this crucial service area.
This role is an excellent opportunity to pursue a career in payroll. We will offer in-house training in all aspects of payroll, whilst also funding study of a Payroll Technician professional qualification with CIPP, the industry’s professional body for payroll.
Payroll Tasks
To assist in collation of payroll information for payrolls prepared on a weekly/ fortnightly or monthly basis
To process data relating to payroll accurately to payroll software
To prepare payroll reports, checking and performing reconciliations, prior to sending for client approval
To prepare manual calculations to check your work
On client approval, to complete payroll process, making submissions to HMRC and pension providers
To ensure payrolls are processed promptly, working with the rest of the team to ensure payroll deadlines are met
To liaise with clients and their employees, providing information as required
Preparation of payroll journals and other ad-hoc reporting requirements as directed by the Payroll Manager.
Additional Tasks
Accurate filing and record keeping
Preparation and maintenance of process maps
Assist the team with the smooth running of the practice, to include answering the phone, dealing with queries and other admin task as required.
The successful candidate does not need to be qualified or experienced as training will be provided. However, candidates who are able to demonstrate an interest in the industry, or in business, will be preferred.

Enthusiasm to learn and motivation to commit to ongoing CPD
An understanding of the importance of confidentiality and ethical behaviour
Ability to communicate effectively
An organised approach - able to effectively prioritise work
Able to work independently and productively.
